The Black Vein Consortium represents mine owners, refinery families, industrial investors, transport interests, and engineering concerns obsessed with securing Diesel resources.

Since rich mining territory fell outside the shield, the Consortium funds prospecting, reclamation plans, frontier infrastructure, and extremely dangerous expeditions. Critics accuse it of spending other people's lives to preserve a resource-hungry civilization. The Consortium replies that without Diesel, millions will eventually lose heat, transport, machinery, and essential infrastructure.
