Historians argue about how much of the current site is original. Diesel Dwarves argue that historians should stop touching things.
The foundry is part museum, part shrine to useful engineering, and part active workshop. Apprentices visit before major examinations. Mechanics leave broken tools there for luck. Several priceless artifacts have been modified over the centuries because a dwarf decided the original design could obviously be improved.
