Built in the center of An'kor after the Demian warning, Corian is the youngest great nation and the political heart of the surviving world. It was created specifically because no old capital could be trusted to represent everyone. Every people contributed something to its construction, which means its streets contain architectural districts that look as though several incompatible civilizations agreed to share a wall and stopped arguing only long enough to build it.
Corian is crowded, defensive, politically tense, and permanently aware that the world ends somewhere beyond its horizon. Refugees from lost territories have made it denser every year. Beneath the city lies the Core, which makes Corian both the safest place in An'kor and the single most catastrophic place to lose.
