Pelagor was built in deep water to study magical currents, astronomical phenomena, tides, and changes in the world that surface observatories could not measure. Some Aquarians believe its instruments recorded unusual activity before the Demian prophecy of Xanaras, although nobody remembers enough of the data to know whether that is true.
The observatory is now beyond the shield. Its surviving towers occasionally appear in distant scrying attempts, wrapped in unfamiliar growth. Recovering Pelagor's records could reveal whether Xanaras truly arrived without precedent or whether An'kor had warnings it failed to understand.
